10 podcasts that will teach you more about life than any university degree

I love podcasts, but it is hard to find good ones that combine experienced speakers, interesting topics and quality content. So for the last 6 years I’ve kept a list of the podcasts that have had a real impact on my career, my beliefs, my knowledge and my life.

Here are my 10 favourite ones (in no particular order):

  1. Talks at Google: Good summaries of thought provoking ideas and innovations — delivered in engaging lectures.

  2. The Knowledge Project with Shane Parrish: A podcast about better thinking, problem solving, and decision making. Timeless wisdom. I also recommend subscribing to his newsletter that he sends out every Sunday. He always share good articles, books, podcasts etc. All in the area of humanity, culture, health, business, innovation etc.

  3. The James Altucher Show: Eventhough some episdoes are very focused on America, James is one of my favourite polymath/polymaker. He’s lived so many lives and it shows in the nature of his questions and guests. He’s unpacking the idea of entrepreneurship in a very tangible way.

  4. How I built this with Guy Raz: Some of the best entrepreneurs discuss how they built their businesses and came up with the ideas. It’s like case studies in an MBA but delivered in a story-telling format.

  5. The Tim Ferriss Show: his relentless curiosity and strive to explore the edges of humanity has given his the opportunity to dive deep with some of the most fascinating (top performing) people in the world. Every episode is a journey, deep within yourself, the world we have created so far and the possibilities in the future.

  6. Masters of scale with Ried Hoffman: The best startup advice from Silicon Valley & beyond. Interesting perspectives on innovation, brand and creativity. Reid Hoffman (the host) cofounded LinkedIn back in the days and share a lot of his experience as a founder and investor. So many good stories on what scaling a startup ACTUALLY looks like.

  7. Collective insights: Great discussions on consciousness, human mind, wellbeing and everything in between. Sometimes a bit long, but they are full of little nuggets that I seem to go back to over and over again.

  8. Making Sense with Sam Harris: A crossbreed between James Altucher and Tim Ferriss. He is an amazing neuroscientist and philosopher. In this podcast he explores important and controversial questions about the human mind, society, and current events.

  9. Bulletproof: All about biohacking and how to upgrade the human being using every available technology. Latest tricks, hacks and strategies to keep our physical, mental and spiritual health at it’s best. I love experimenting with the insights from this podcast. Dave and his guests share a lot of the research behind the latest trends like intermitted fasting, Wim Hoffing, phsycadellics etc…

  10. The life stylist: Thought-provoking interviews with the biggest experts in the fields of health, spirituality, and personal development. The easy to follow conversational style really makes you feel like you’re in the room with some of the most interesting people in the space.

To take your podcast experience to the next level and really learn from it, try these 3 hacks:

  • Take a screen shot of the episode and put it in a new note — write down 3 key takeaways.

  • Reflect on what you’ve learned at the end of it and summarise it in a sentence.

  • Share what you learned with your friends/collegues — it’ll help you remeber it.
